Can You Buy Local Wines Online in Oklahoma?
For some stores and wineries, customers can order wines online to later pick them up at the business or winery. Depending on the area where you are located, you may be able to order wine through an online delivery service to receive it at your home in a matter of hours or minutes. Of course, it is essential to make sure that you order from a reliable business that is licensed to deliver alcohol in Oklahoma.
In Oklahoma, it is legal for a business to deliver alcoholic beverages (including wine) as long as that business is licensed to do so. Examples of businesses that are often licensed for wine delivery include grocery stores, restaurants, and package liquor stores.
Restrictions for Buying Made in Oklahoma Wine Online
Whether a business is able to ship wines in the state is determined by the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission (ABLE). For a winery to ship wine directly to someone in Oklahoma, they have to get a Direct Shipper’s Permit from the ABLE Commission. This also applies to wineries that are not located in Oklahoma if they want to ship wine to someone in the state.
When a winery has a Direct Shipper’s Permit, there are still some limitations around shipping wines. To comply with ABLE laws and regulations, each individual can receive no more than six 9-liter cases of wine from a Direct Shipper’s Permit holder per year.
